Biography

Dr. Harrison serves as the Flight Path Coordinator in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at East Carolina University, where he also teaches in the university’s accelerated online Flight Path program. As a former law enforcement professional and first-generation college graduate, he combines extensive field experience with a student-centered approach to teaching.

Before transitioning to higher education, Dr. Harrison spent nearly two decades in law enforcement, serving in a variety of roles, including SWAT, criminal investigations, and executive leadership. He concluded his full-time law enforcement career as a Chief of Police, where he gained extensive experience in leadership, policy development, officer training, and organizational management.

  • Former Practitioner (Chief and SWAT Operator). First-Generation Student.

Dr. Harrison’s primary scholarly and professional interests include law enforcement training, use of force within the criminal justice system, crisis response, and officer decision-making.
